The curtains for second edition of GustoMugello were lifted on Thursday May 30 th in
the Palazzo dei Vicari in the town of Scarperia. The initiative, promoted by the
Confcommercio and Coldiretti Association, aimed to give a warm welcome to the
heroes behind MotoGP.
It also emphasized and highlighted the value of the local region and its agriculture
producers as it hosted the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix event taking place in the
Mugello Circuit of Scarperia and San Pietro on June 2 nd .
The evening opened exclusively for the riders, car manufacturers, and Mugello press
opened at 6:30pm and continued through 10:30pm with tastings of the finest Mugello
food and beverage specialties.
From the unmissable ‘potato tortello’ to the delicious ‘bistecca alla Fioretina’ grilled
on the spot, and to close off on a high note, desserts made from Mugello’s own
chestnut flour.
Master cutlers of Scarperia made their presence known by recalling their history and
giving advice on how to cut the meat. All of this action was accompanied by live
Jazz and lounge music performed live by Deb Jones.
“The Italian Grand Prix has become the Mugello Grand Prix. The eyes of the world
are on us, and we know how important it is to represent the best Italian professions.
We have the best professionals on the track, the best riders, and the best motorcycle
manufacturers in the world. In addition to all this, we are also world champions in
taste and agricultural food, so what better way to celebrate than tonight? This year
marks the 34 th Grand Prix since Ferrari became owner of the track. It is also the 50th
anniversary of the Mugello Circuit foundation. In short, it is a very long history story
that arrives here tonight and that will surely have a great future. Long live MotoGP,
long live the World Championship, long live Confcommercio, long live Cordiretti
and long live all of you!” commented Paolo Poli, director & CEO of the Mugello
Circuit.
Federico Ignesti, mayor of Scarperia and San Piero, echoed Poli’s words by adding,
“I believe this evening is a worthy celebration of this beautiful weekend which will
culminate with the MotoGP race on Sunday, a day which, among other things, is also
of the day we celebrate the founding of the Republic of Italy. The agricultural
produce of our land plays a fundamental role, not only for its quality, but also because
it represents our territory. In moments of hydrological fragility, it becomes important
to have companies and breeders who invest and continue to work on the quality of

their produce. I think this type of work, immersed in our centuries-old artisan cutlery
tradition, represents a beautiful combination”.
The final word fell to Paolo Beltramo, satisfied with the wonderful evening:
“Amazing products, excellent and delicious. Mugello, Scarperia and Tuscany are
truly wonderful. We are in a magical place and this evening could not have shown
that better”.
